Chrome Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows, Linux and Mac

These are Google Chrome’s keyboard shortcuts for Windows, Linux and Mac, taken from Google’s own list in Chrome Help: Chrome keyboard shortcuts. Choose your system and type in the filter box to find a shortcut fast. “Not listed” means Google gives no shortcut for that action on that system.

The basics: Ctrl + T opens a new tab, Ctrl + W closes it, Ctrl + Shift + T brings back a tab you closed by mistake, Ctrl + L jumps to the address bar and Ctrl + F finds text on the page. On a Mac, use ⌘ Cmd instead of Ctrl for all five.

Use tab groups with the keyboard

Google gives these steps in Use tab groups with your keyboard.

On Windows, to open the menu for a tab group:

  1. Press F6 until your tabs are in focus.
  2. Press Tab to move forward or Shift + Tab to move backward until the tab or group you want is in focus.
  3. Press the Menu key to open the tab group menu.
  4. Use the arrow keys to move through the menu, and press Enter to choose an option.

On a Chromebook, to open the menu for a tab group:

  1. Press Ctrl + Tab to move to the tabs.
  2. Press Ctrl + Back or Ctrl + Forward to move to the tab you want.
  3. Press Search + Shift + Increase volume (or Launcher + Shift + Increase volume) to open the tab group menu.
  4. Use the arrow keys to move through the menu, and press Enter to choose an option.

On a Mac, turn on VoiceOver first, then press Tab to move to the tabs and Tab or Shift + Tab to move between them.

On every system, once a tab group header has focus, press Space or Enter to collapse or expand the group. A collapsed group can only be selected as a whole, not tab by tab. To move a tab or group, give it focus and press Ctrl + Left arrow or Ctrl + Right arrow.
