How to Change Chrome Font Size and Style
To change the font size in Chrome on a computer, select More (the three dots at the top right) > Settings > Appearance, then pick a size next to Font size. Customize fonts on the same page lets you choose the fonts themselves and a minimum size. Google notes that some websites don’t let browsers change only the text size; on those, use zoom instead. These steps follow Google’s text and zoom help.
Changing Default Font Size
- Open Chrome and select More > Settings.
- On the left, select Appearance.
- Next to Font size, choose Very small, Small, Medium (Recommended), Large or Very large.

Minimum Font Size Setting
- In Appearance, select Customize fonts.
- Move the Minimum font size slider. Chrome won’t show text smaller than this.
Customizing Font Family
- Go to Settings > Appearance > Customize fonts.
- Choose your preferred font under Standard font.
- Change Serif font, Sans-serif font and Fixed-width font if you want.
Many websites choose their own fonts, so these settings only show on pages that use the browser’s default fonts.
Per-Site Adjustments
Chrome has no font setting for a single site, but it remembers zoom per site. Go to the site and zoom in or out; Chrome uses that zoom level the next time you visit. To remove saved zoom levels, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Additional content settings > Zoom levels.
Fonts look wrong after a change
Resetting Chrome does not reset fonts. Google says a settings reset leaves fonts and accessibility settings alone. To undo font changes, go back to Customize fonts and set each font and the minimum size back yourself. If text looks blurry rather than the wrong size, see our blurry text guide.

Android
- In the Chrome app, tap More > Settings > Accessibility.
- Move the Default zoom slider until the preview text is comfortable to read. See our text scaling guide for more.

In the Chrome app, tap More > Zoom text, then use the zoom buttons at the top of the screen.
