How to Uninstall Google Chrome

Need to remove Google Chrome from your device? Follow these step-by-step instructions for your platform.

Uninstall Chrome on Windows

  1. Close all Chrome windows
  2. Open Settings (Windows key + I)
  3. Click AppsInstalled apps
  4. Search for “Google Chrome”
  5. Click the three dots (⋮) next to Chrome
  6. Select Uninstall
  7. Follow the prompts to complete removal

Tip: Check “Also delete your browsing data” if you want to remove bookmarks, history, and passwords.

Uninstall Chrome on Mac

  1. Quit Chrome completely (Cmd + Q)
  2. Open Finder
  3. Go to Applications
  4. Find Google Chrome
  5. Drag it to the Trash (or right-click → Move to Trash)
  6. Empty the Trash

Remove user data (optional): Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome to remove all browsing data.

Uninstall Chrome on Linux

Debian/Ubuntu

sudo apt remove google-chrome-stable

Fedora/RHEL

sudo dnf remove google-chrome-stable

Uninstall Chrome on Android

Chrome is pre-installed on most Android devices and cannot be fully uninstalled. However, you can disable it:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap AppsChrome
  3. Tap Disable
  4. Confirm by tapping Disable app

This removes Chrome from your app drawer and prevents it from running.

Uninstall Chrome on iPhone/iPad

  1. Find Chrome on your home screen
  2. Long-press the Chrome icon
  3. Tap Remove App
  4. Tap Delete App to confirm
